Learn to Lead
FAQs
-
Lead climbing is a more advanced type of roped climbing.
The climber has a rope attached to their harness and is clipping into anchor points while climbing, with a belay partner that is giving them rope as needed.
It has more risk involved than normal top roping and so requires more skill and understanding.
-
While it’s harder, the trade off is that you can tackle steeper terrain without the risk of big swings, you don’t need a fixed rope already placed for you and it’s a lot of fun!
-
If you have been top roping for a while and are interested in taking the next step, lead climbing might be for you!
Our Learn To Lead course teaches you everything you need to know to lead climb and belay in our facility.
-
Usually the course will run on a Sunday from 4 pm until 9 pm.
Keep an eye out for our next advertised course.
-
We don’t cover the progression to outdoor climbing, however, the skills you do learn from us will be relevant and useful for you when you decide to embark on that part of your climbing journey.
